Welcome

 

On behalf of the Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-in-C) and all of our staff, may I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Central Flying School here at RAFvirtual Cranwell. The first step in your virtual flying career.

 

Check out our different RAFvirtual - Active Squadrons - Information Sites, they give you a comprehensive list of what opportunities you can participate in, with a large range of stimulating and rewarding activities. It will help you to make a choice for your future career her at RAFvirtual.

 

School Objectives

 

Our mission here at the CFS is, first and foremost to train and develop the skills and qualities that are required of aircrew that serve our virtual front line squadrons. Our secondary objective is to train aircrew who have volunteered to be qualified flying instructors at our training units.

 

Central Flying School Units

 

The CFS consists of the following flying training schools:

1EFTS : Elementary FTS at RAFv Cranwell. Flying the Firefly T67.

1FTS : Flying Training School based at RAFv Linton-on-Ouse. Flying the Shorts Tucano.
2FTS : Flying Training School based at RAFv Shawbury. Flying the Squirrel and Griffin helicopters.
3FTS : Flying Training School based at RAFv Cranwell. Flying the Beechcraft King Air.
4FTS : Flying Training School based at RAFv Valley. Flying the British Aerospace Hawk T1/1A.

 

Your Training

 

Upon your acceptance into RAFv, you will have received information on how to confirm your commission, and wil have been given a few points of contact who will guide you through your first crucial weeks of your RAFv career. There are a number of different options open to you determined by your chosen path within RAFv.
