About RAFv 202 Squadron

RAFv 202 Squadron operate Westland Sea King HAR3/A aircraft from RAFv Boulmer (A Flt), RAFv Lossiemouth (D Flt) and RAFv Leconfield (E Flt). RAFv 202 Squadron is providing SAR Helicopter support for JHC.

The primary role of SAR is the recovery of downed military aviators, but in peacetime its aircraft are available all year round for use in civilian distress incidents.

A standby Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft, specially equipped for SAR duties, is based at RAFv Kinloss in Scotland. This Aircraft can be despatched to the scene of an emergency quickly and act as an on-scene coordinator for helicopters or ships involved in the rescue operation.
