About RAFvirtual 3 Squadron

Welcome to the OCU program - OPERATIONAL CONVERSION UNIT

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a high tech aircraft, new generation build and for new pilots difficult to handle. Your stay here will be extreemly demanding. Face yourself, stay calm, know what you are dealing with, fly error proof ... only in these conditions you will enjoy this briljant aircraft.

May I ask you gentlemen to push your limits to the edge during your stay in OCU.

During your OCU training we will learn you how to :

- fly the Eurofighter Typhoon

- know its limits

- fly the aircraft on the edge

- give you a first impression what you can expect in the 3(F) Sqn

RAFvirtual.com is offering you here the ultimate in virtual military flying. This is no shooting game but closer to the realworld you cannot get.

Aim of the course

- To complete an OCU course so that at the end of the course he/she can fly the Typhoon F2 to the standards required by the RAFv and the squadron.

- The student must be able to apply skills learnt during the course to fly on the RAFv Server and on squadron operations/exercises.

- All online flying must be done with an OCU Instructor (OCUI) unless express permission is granted.

- After each sortie, the OCUI will give a debrief of the flight. This will include his observations, points you may improve on, areas you did well in, and so forth. If you have any points to make, feel free to make them now.

Summary

The OCU pilots will develop flying skills learnt at 4 FTS (such as instrument navigation, low level, airmanship and formation flying).

They will then extend their skills in general handling, advanced formation flying and low level navigation. Once the necessary parts of this course have been completed, the student will move onto the tactical part of the course learning Weapons/Operational skills needed for 3 Sqn. The squadron QWI will take students on this part of the course.

On completion of the Course, the pilots will be granted their combat ready status within the squadron.  Further training will be received during squadron continuation training such as AAR, night flying, CAP, multi-squadron ops, escort duties etc.

I wish you all the best during your stay here.
