Hello and welcome to RAFv Lyneham, at 24 Squadron we are one of 3 squadrons to fly multiple

aircraft these being the C-130 Hercules and the C-17 Globemaster.

We are currently operating all around the world some of our destinations include:

Mt Pleasant (Falkland Isles)

Gibraltar Airbase

Kandahar AB (Afghanistan)

Basra Int. (Iraq)

 

We are often seen performing STOL (short take off and landing) operations out of small remote

airfields as well as dropping paratroopers and cargo into war zones and area's in need of humanitarian

aid mainly using the C130. 99 Squadron C-17's are vital to the RAF & EU as it is the only aircraft

in Europe to be able to carry such a large cargo load and has a longer flight capability than the C130.

We are always ready to respond to any call for any operation 24 hours a day with pilots in

Australia, England on RAFv. In Operation Quick Zone (Afghanistan) 24 Squadron

delivered nearly all of the cargo required by other squadrons and played a vital role in one

instance rescuing 2 downed helicopter crews.

Whether abroad or at home RAFv relies on 24 Squadron to deliver logistics anywhere, any time

and we deliver time and time again.
