About RAFvirtual 101 Squadron

Home of Air-to-Air Refuelling

We are equipped with the Vickers VC10 C1K & Vickers Super VC10 K3/K4 and providing Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) within RAFvirtual. The role of a Tanker pilot is very demanding and you will therefore be expected to push your skills to the very limit. We aim to closely follow real world 101 Sqn operations and flying AAR like the latest NATO procedures of April 2007. Also our flying in the CTR of Brize Norton is executed like the real world, including the procedures and charts of UK MIL AIP. We are going for professionalism and are always looking to improve the things we do.

Our roles include

Providing Tanker Cover in UK Airspace for fastjet and heavy aircraft, flying AAR racetracks where needed, taking part in most RAFvitual deployments such as the UN Bosnia Operation & Operation Quickzone, Red Flag at Nellis AFB, training pilots in their AAR flying skills and keeping fastjet/heavy pilots combat ready in that matter. An Air-to-Air Refuelling capability is a major asset to any air force enabling aircraft to be deployed very quickly over large distances, to stay on patrol longer, and to fly further into enemy territory carrying larger weapon loads. Our area of UK operations is extensive, our training more so. We are willing to assist in any squadron training if you think we would be useful.

Our motto

Mens agitat molem - 'Mind over matter' ... but in the meantime have fun and fly safely.
