1 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: 1 (F)
BASED: RAFvCottesmore (EGXJ) / HMSv Hermes / HMSv Invincible / Forward Operating Bases
AIRCRAFT: Harrier GR7/9
MISSIONS: Close Air Support / Strike / Recce
SQN NIGHTS: Monday & Wednesday - 19:00 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: As requested, and at your descretion, to maintain proficiency.

3 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: 3(F)
BASED: RAFv Coningsby (EGXC)
AIRCRAFT: Eurofighter Typhoon
MISSIONS: Air to Air, Air to Ground & Recon
SQN NIGHTS: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 19:00 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: The squadron does fly on most nights of the week, however non squadron nights are used for Combat Air Patrols, Quick Reaction Alerts and catch up training.

8 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: VIII (F)
BASED: RAFv Waddington (EGXW)
AIRCRAFT: E3D Sentry
MISSIONS: Airborne Command and Control
SQN NIGHTS: Monday & Wednesday - 19:00 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: at pilots discretion/if and when required.

9 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: IX(B) (F)
BASED: RAFv Marham (EGYM)
AIRCRAFT: Tornado GR4
MISSIONS: Air to Ground, Air to Air & Recon
SQN NIGHTS: Monday & Wednesday - 19:20 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: The squadron as a whole fly as above, but aircrew are permitted to fly at any other times as they see fit. On these occaisions, you will practice to hone your skills in not just flying, but also flight planning. You may also be called upon to provide QRA cover whilst on server.

24 Squadron Information


SQUADRON: 24 (L.W)
BASED: RAFv Lynham (EGDL)
AIRCRAFT: Lockeed C130H and J
MISSIONS: Logistics airframe and personel movements,vip missions covert missions
SQN NIGHTS: Monday & Wednesday - 19:20 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: The squadron as a whole fly as above, but aircrew are permitted to fly at any other times as they see fit. On these occaisions, you will practice your skills in not just flying, but also flight planning. navigation, low level ,You will also be asked to compleate logistics taskings by the other squadrons within RAFv this will take place outside training nights.

78 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: 78 (S.H)
BASED: RAFv Odiham (EGVO) /Benson (EGUB)
AIRCRAFT: Chinook/Merlin/Seaking/Apache
MISSIONS: Underslung,CSAR,Troop extractions/Deployment,SAR UK cover, HMS Hermes/Invincible,carrier plane guard, Chinook escort,Anti tank role
SQN NIGHTS: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 19:30z - 23:00z approx, saturday afternoon 1:00z
OTHER NIGHTS: this squadron flys most of the week, as we have a seaking on standby,and logistics duties for other sqns but its up to the pilots,to fly as they see fit,to fit more training skills into the flight hrs,as low level,night time flying,useing night vision goggles ,roof top landings,etc,if you wish to better your skills in rotary,we can offer you a ocu course in the seaking sar/ and apache.but this is a personal choice for you.

100 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: 100 (S.U)
BASED: RAFv Leeming (EGXE)
AIRCRAFT: All in RAFVirtaul's hangar
MISSIONS: Aggressor and what is needed in C/O's request
SQN NIGHTS: As needed
OTHER NIGHTS: At pilots discretion/if and when required.

101 Squadron Information

SQUADRON: 101 (F)
BASED: RAFv Brize Norton (EGVN)
AIRCRAFT: Vickers VC10 / K4/ K3 / C1k
MISSIONS: Air to Air Refueling
SQN NIGHTS: Monday & Wednesday - 19:00 - 22:00 approx
OTHER NIGHTS: An integral part of RAFv we fly anywhere any time to refuel other aircraft, fighters and heavies. Navigation, planning and air to air trafic control are just some of the skills taught in the OCU. We adhere to real world flying as much as possible. Pilots must be prepared to spend a resonable amount of time on server as we are usually first on and last off the server.

111 Squadron Information

AIRCRAFT: Panavia Tornado F3
MISSIONS: Air to Air, QRA
SQN NIGHTS: Monday, Wednesday 19:00 - 22:00 approx

201 Squadron Information

MISSIONS:Anti Submarine Warfare / Airborne Command and Control / SAR insupport of 78sqn

OTHER NIGHTS: At pilots discretion/If and when required.
